of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.into the 21st Century and Beyond
Dr. Bernard LaFayette, Jr.
Civil rights pioneer Dr. Bernard LaFayette, Jr. was National Program Administrator for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and who helped start the Student Nonviolence Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and directed the Poor People’s Campaign. Dr. LaFayette was with Dr. King on that fateful day in Memphis. When King was assassinated, that morning, Dr. King remarked to Bernard LaFayette that the next movement should be to institutionalize and internationalize nonviolence.
Dr. LaFayette has dedicated his life to carrying out those instructions. He and his colleagues have conducted nonviolence training courses across the US and around the world. We invite and encourage you to take advantage of this unique opportunity to carry on the powerful legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dr. King stated in 1967 during a staff conference, “Now is the time to really educate and train people in nonviolence as the more noble path to social justice.”
In order to take the Level I training with Dr. LaFayette in November, it is necessary to first complete the 2-day Core Introduction to Kingian Nonviolence course. There are two upcoming opportunities to take the Core training, which will give you a good grounding in Kingian Nonviolance theory and practice and a clear sense of whether you want to go further and become certified as a Kingian Nonviolence trainer and practitioner.
